I’ve been wanting to do some baking, but these cookie cutters are the closest that I’ve managed to come to it. It has been VERY hot so turning on the oven is not at the top of my list right now. Actually, since it has been so nice I’ve been spending a lot of time working out in the yard. That might have contributed a bit to the weight that I managed to lose this week.

It was a very stressful two weeks, so it was a nice surprise to step on the scale this morning and see that it had moved down a bit. I had allowed myself to indulge a little bit this week, however I tried to make sure that it wasn’t TOO bad of an indulgence. Klondike sells No Sugar Added ice cream bars. Now, they do add the bad chemical sugars, but I figure that because they won’t taste as good as the full sugar ones then I won’t be tempted to eat them too often. This way I get something that feels like an indulgence without it being too bad. Right?

There have been a few moments when I actually realized that this diet is changing my thought processes. In a good way, I think. Maybe…

I picked up a box of Lemonheads last night at the store and considered buying them because I love Lemonheads. I flipped over the box to read the ingredients (to check for gluten) and was disgusted when the first two ingredients were sugar and high fructose corn syrup. As I put the box back in the bin I started wondering, “What happened to the jelly bean-eating, marshmallow-craving, Sweet Tea-obsessed Kerry???” Get this… I was even considering one of those new water bottles where you put fruit in the inside so that you can flavor your water naturally as you drink it. WHAT?!! I don’t fall for those kinds of things! Yikes!

This morning at church they made announcements regarding the annual festival, including the Chicken Run. It’s a 5K run/walk that they do the day before the festival and the winner gets a free chicken dinner at the festival the next day. I have no illusions that I would actually win, but I am actually thinking about signing up for it. When I took a walking class in college (it was a LOT harder than it sounds!) I was able to walk 3 miles in about 45 minutes. It’s been a while since I’ve power-walked, though, so I’ve asked Jay if we can go out walking on the nice days when he’s working 1st shift. I need to get my legs back into power-walking shape!

So that’s how my two weeks have been. 🙂
