So, I’m getting ready to move in a few months. I know, I know. I haven’t even been in my house for a year and already I’m moving on. That’s what happens when you fall in love with somebody who lives 50 minutes away. It’s okay, though, because I had purchased this house completely with the intent of making it be more of an investment than anything. Besides, the house that Jay and I are in the process of trying to buy is much bigger and I really love it a lot. It actually has a decent kitchen!

Speaking of kitchens, I haven’t been posting because I’ve been busy trying to get something done with my kitchen.

I knew that there were a couple holes in the drywall so I decided that I should probably patch them up. I had been debating about whether I wanted to paint the kitchen before moving or not. It really needed it, but who knows if the people who buy this place would like the same color as I did?

As I pulled on what I thought was the drywall paper, so that I could correctly patch the holes, I realized that it was NOT drywall paper. It was wallpaper! And I had managed to rip an entire strip off of the wall. Great! Now I had no choice… I would be painting the kitchen. I’ll admit that I only pulled the wallpaper off of one wall. There were three layers of this stuff, the top one being a rather stiff vinyl type.

I washed down the walls and cleaned up behind/beneath the washer, dryer and fridge. I don’t know how many years it had been since that was last done, but the water was NASTY! I had a nice yellow that I wanted to put on the walls, so I had to prime them first in the hopes that it would help to cover up the blue that the walls were currently painted.

I don’t know… what do you think? Is it too yellow? I ended up having to do two coats of the yellow to make sure that it completely covered everything. The disappointing thing is that I can still see the blue through it. 😦

The blue really doesn’t look very dark in these pictures, but it just does not want the yellow covering it up! This is right after I moved in last year.

You can see that I primed this wall, too. Although, it doesn’t really look that much different than the one before it was primed. Hmmm….

I think that the yellow warms it up a bit. And it looks okay with the cupboards. If you’re wondering, this is after the first coat of yellow. I haven’t put the second coat on yet.

Here’s another view of the primed wall. And the nasty linoleum tile. Yuck.

This color is called ‘Butter Not’. After the second coat I thought that maybe it was too yellow. I tried to do a sponge painting technique over it with white, but it didn’t turn out like I wanted. Now I have to repaint that wall with the yellow. Have I mentioned that I really suck at painting??

Hopefully you can forgive me for not posting. As you can see I’ve been busy sucking at painting. lol.
