It’s that time of year again… the weather is getting colder and the flying field is a bit wet. Flying in the gym is held on Friday nights, but lately Jay has had to work those nights. Luckily, he didn’t have to work this past Friday so we were able to gather up the small foamies and put something in the air. I know that you can’t see anything in this picture, but I promise that there are planes in there… somewhere.

Can you tell that this is an action shot? Jay has given the prop more pitch so that it will go faster. When he’s flying it I try not to distract him because it takes his full concentration to keep it from crashing. He barely pulls out of a turn when he’s back in it. This thing is FAST.

I didn’t take a picture of it in the gym, but this is the Night Vapor that I flew. This is just a floaty kind of plane that really doesn’t do anything special. It’s got a nice, slow pace to it that really suits me right now. I was just terribly impressed with how much more confidence I have after flying the LT this summer. I changed the battery in it all by myself and then took off again after the first battery died. I landed it and never once crashed it. Last year when Jay first handed me the transmitter for it I was terrified. In fact, I think that I did crash it. lol

This is called a Champ. It’s the mini-plane that everybody seems to get as their first small scale model. There were no less than five of these flying around the gym Friday night. One of the other guys had asked Jay if I was going to get one of these, and I told Jay that I didn’t want one. He asked why. I told him, “They are prone to crashing!” lol  Since it’s the plane that most beginners have, that’s why they crash a lot. I was just being a wise guy. 😉

We had a lot of fun, though, and it was nice to see some of the guys that I haven’t seen since September. When you are used to seeing them once a week at the field you kind of go through withdrawals. Jay shouldn’t have to work this coming Friday so I will get to see the guys again! Yeah!
