Have you missed reading my posts about RC airplanes? I know, me too! In the winter Jay’s group gets together on Friday nights to fly their little planes in a local high school gym. With Jay’s work schedule, though, he has either had to work on Friday nights or he’s so exhausted that he doesn’t have the energy to attend. I had been looking forward to attending one of the Friday Fly-ins, so I was very happy when we loaded up the car this past Friday night with various miniature airplanes and headed out.
I didn’t know what to expect because I had only seen the giant planes in flight. Instead, they have to use little guys in the gym:
(It was tough to get shots because the planes were constantly in motion and then my camera batteries started to die).
On your mark…. get ready… get set….
GO!!
Can I tell you how hard it is to take pictures of white planes in a white gym??
Yes, there are planes in that picture… somewhere.
The biggest problem with flying in a gym is that your plane doesn’t have reverse. So, if you don’t turn sharp enough you run into the wall. And then this happens:
Jay decided to take the baby out and let him stretch his wings a little bit. Unfortunately, the baby has too much ‘Go’ for the gym.
Have I told you that Jay is a man of many talents? One of his talents is the fact that he can land a plane on the wall. Don’t believe me?
Isn’t that awesome? He makes it look so easy, too. I actually had a chance to try my hand at flying one of his indestructible planes in the gym. It was a nice, slow one that reminded me of a dragon fly. Yep. I crashed it. Twice. At least. *sigh* I don’t have the hand-eye coordination for it. I am happy, though, watching Jay do his thing.
🙂
Lol – you're very brave! I stick to simulator planes because I don't have to feel too guilty when I crash them… the last one I crashed was a bazillion dollar King Air jet! Glad you were able to get out and have fun. 🙂
